KOKO OUT FOR THE SEASON

Star centre Alexander Khokhlachev will miss the remainder of the regular season and playoffs, after a medical examination revealed the nature of an injury he suffered on Saturday night in Plymouth.

“Due to an injury sustained on March 3rd, in the game versus Plymouth, Alexander Khokhlachev will be unavailable for the remainder of the OHL season,” said Spitfires Athletic Therapist Joey Garland. “He has been diagnosed with a lacerated kidney, and although there is no timeline for his return, he is expected to make a full recovery.”

No further comments will be made by the Windsor Spitfires at this time.

Khokhlachev left the ice during the first period after he was hit by Stefan Noesen and collided with defenceman Dario Trutmann.

The 18-year-old Moscow native currently ranks tops on the Spits with 25 goals and 69 points in 59 games. Those numbers ranked him 20th in the OHL in points.

Khokhlachev was a second-round draft pick of the Boston Bruins in last summer's NHL Entry Draft.
