(Ottawa, ON) Sean Monahan scored three times as the 67s rolled to an 8-5 win over the Spitfires on Saturday night at Scotiabank Place.

Brett Gustavsen, Joseph Blandisi and Brendan Bell each chipped in a goal and two assists for Ottawa (15-34-0-4), while Clint Windsor made 39 saves in goal.

Kerby Rychel and Alexander Khokhlachev each had a goal and two assists for Windsor (22-24-1-6) in the loss, which left it seven points back of the Saginaw Spirit for eighth place in the Western Conference.

The home side got off to a quick start, scoring three times in a 2:09 span of the first period to take a 3-0 lead by the time the game was 5:34 old. Goals by Khokhlachev (13) and Remy Giftopoulos (21) cut the lead to 3-2 late in the frame. But Monahan's second of the night gave the 67s a 4-2 lead after 20 minutes.

After a scoreless second, the Spits cut the lead to just a goal twice in the third period, on goals by Rychel (31) and Ho-Sang (11). But each time, Ottawa struck back quickly to restore a two-goal lead.

Monahan completed the hat-trick with a shorthanded, empty net goal at 19:59.

Jaroslav Pavelka started in goal for the Spits, but was pulled after allowing three goals on five shots.

The Spits wrap up the weekend Sunday afternoon in Kingston, as they take on the Frontenacs at 2:05.
